MARIE EPP

(Mrs.) Marie Epp (nee Loewen) was born March 10, 1877 in the village of Muntau in southern Russia. She spent most of her youth in the village of Gnadenfeld in Sagradowka. The family moved to Canada in 1893.

In 1897 she was married to David Epp. They lived at his parents' farm for several years, and then moved to a homestead near Laird, Sask. where they lived for 40 years.

It was there that they realized their lost condition and accepted Christ as their personal Saviour. They were baptized in 1905 by Jacob Wiens and were accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church.

It was also here that 13 children were born to them, of which three predeceased them: a daughter six weeks old, one son 35 years old and one daughter as a result of an accident. These incidents were the cause of deep grief for the family.

As the farming operation became too hard for Mr. Epp, they moved to Saskatoon. Here they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They moved to Clearbrook, B.C. in 1953, where they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. Mr. Epp passed away in 1963.

Marie Epp went to be with the Lord March 9,1974, at the age of 97, less one day. She is survived by ten children, 43 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
