KATHARINA WALL EPP

“As for God, his way is perfect.” He has promoted to glory our dear mother and grandmother, Katherina [sic Katharina] Wall Epp, the daughter of Elder and Mrs. Cornelius M. Wall. The words of the Psalmist seem to be specially appropriate — “Return unto thy rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.” “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”(Psalm 116: 7, 15)

She was born on Nov. 29, 1863, in Hierschau, South Russia and emigrated with her parents to York County, Neb. at the age of 11 years. On May 7, 1885, she was united in marriage to Peter Epp. They were privileged to enjoy together over 65 years of wedded life. God abundantly blessed their many years of loving service for Him.

The Lord wonderfully preserved our mother and grandmother spiritually, mentally and physically to her ripe age of more than 95 years for a special purpose — to pray. To pray, not only for her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, but also for a host of the Lord's servants around the world until the last days before her home-going on Wednesday, April 8, at 6:25 p.m. In her last spoken prayer her greatest concern was for the unsaved. She quoted the following lines at that time:

”Wie ser hat Gott die Welt geliebt,
Die Suender allzumal;
Ein freies, volles Heil er gibt,
Erloesung von dem Fall!”

We are grateful for the impact of her godly life. We shall greatly miss her loving words and ministry of intercession in our behalf. God took unto Himself our father and grandfather eight years ago. Preceding him in death were four children and one grandchild. Surviving her are: Peter E. Epp and wife, Mrs. Helena Penner, Cornelius E. Epp, Barbara, Mrs. D. A. Regier, Abram E. Epp and wife, Katherine E. Epp, and Marie E. Epp; also 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. — The Peter P. Epp family.
