JACOB C. EPP

Jacob C. Epp, son of Rev. Kornelius P. and Aganetha Schierling Epp, was born Nov. 29, 1895, at Henderson, Neb.

He received his elementary education in District 31 of York County, Neb. Later he attended the Bible school in Henderson, Neb. Then, because of his father's calling, he began his lifetime occupation of farming until he and mother retired and moved to Henderson in 1949.

He was baptized upon confession of his faith on June 3, 1917 by Elder B. O. Kroeker, and became a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Later he transferred his membership to the Bethesda Mennonite Church, where he retained his membership until his death.

On Jan. 15, 1919, father and mother were married at Wolf Point, Mont. This union was shared for nearly 49 years. In addition to his life's occupation, our parents enjoyed the beauties of nature by making a number of meaningful trips.

The work of the church was always dear to him. This he was able to express in his interest in music, the Sunday school, and evangelism. In the earlier years this involved much travel by horse and buggy. Later he often relieved his children of farm work so they too might have the privilege of taking part in the work of the church. His interest and concern was that his family might follow in the straight and narrow way of life.

He enjoyed good health until about a year ago, when he had a light stroke. A short time before his death he suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage, from he never regained consciousness. He died Thursday evening, Dec. 21, 1967, attaining the age of 72 years and 22 days.

He leaves his wife, Helena; three children and their companions, Bertha and Elmer Friesen, Edwin and Cleola Epp, and Esther and Dennis Epp, all of Henderson; eight grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. His parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson preceded him in death. — The Family.
