— Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie last Friday afternoon for Henry E. Epp, 65, who died at the Bethel Deaconess Hospital here early Wednesday morning. Dr. Howard G. Nyce of Newton officiated. For a number of years Mr. Epp operated a service station at Pretty Prairie and also engaged in farming, retiring several years ago. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Nettie Epp, four children, and five sister and two brothers, among them Mrs. G. M. Schmidt and J. E. Epp of Newton.

HENRY E. EPP

Henry Ewert Epp was born June 18, 1892, near Lehigh, Kansas and passed away after an illness of three weeks May 14,1958, having reached the age of 65years, 10 months and 26 days.

He was married to Ida Neufeld in 1914. Three children, a daughter and a twin son and daughter, were born to this union. The son died in infancy. His wife and companion died in 1918, leaving him with two small children to care for.

On Pentecost Sunday, 1919, he was baptized upon confession of his faith and united with the Hoffnungsau Church at Inman, later transferring his membership to the First Mennonite Church at Hutchinson, and united with the First Mennonite church at Pretty Prairie after moving to this community.

He was united in marriage to Nettie Neufeld in 1919. A son and a daughter were born to this union.

The family moved to Hutchinson in 1925 where they resided until moving to Pretty Prairie in January of 1932. Here he was engaged in the oil business until retiring a few years ago.

The departed is survived by his wife Nettie; three daughters, Mrs. Laura Ziegler of Kingman, Mrs. Bernice Wiegand of Inman, and Mrs. Vera Moore of Wichita; one son, Albert Franklin of Pretty Prairie; seven grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters, along with a host of relatives and friends.
