HELENE EPP

Miss Helene Epp, daughter of Abraham and Marie Penner Epp, was born Nov. 23, 1865, in the village of Warnau near Marienburg, West Prussia. Here she attended the local school.

Her mother passed away in 1880 when Helene was still a girl at home, leaving her with many of the duties of a home with six younger children.

Helene was baptized upon the confession of her faith on May 29, 1882, by Elder John Toews of Warnau.

On Sept. 22, 1882, here father arrived in Nebraska with his family of nine children and settled on a farm near Hoag. Here she became and remained a member of the First Mennonite church of Beatrice, Neb. After completing her duties in the home of her father she spent many years of her life in faithful service to others in the community who needed her help.

During the later years of her life she made her home with her sister Marie, Mrs. J. H. Penner, and upon her sister's death was cared for by her niece, Mrs. Abraham Reimer. She passed from this life in quiet sleep on August 25, 1959 to enter her eternal reward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and five brothers. She is survived by two brothers, Henry P. Epp and wife Anna, and Cornelius Epp and wife Agatha, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
