GWEN EPP

Gwen Epp, 24, passed away February 20, 1970, in the Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines, Ontario, after lengthy illness. She had in fact been ill from her birth. Gwen was born to Walter and Mary Epp at Vineland, Ontario on November 21, 1945. When she was eight years old she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. At the age of 17, in 1963, she was baptized upon her confession of faith and received into the Grace Mennonite Church of St. Catharines. In 1966 she transferred her membership to, the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church where she sang in the choir whenever her strength permitted.

Gwen loved people and was sensitive to their feelings. She sympathized with those who were sad or sick. In her own sickness she was courageous and unselfish and as soon as she felt well enough, she would make herself useful in things her strength would allow. With her smile, her courage and concern for others, especially in the League for the Handicapped, she was an inspiration to all. The last time she was able to sing in public was at a Handicap League meeting where she and a blind girl sang, "It's not an easy road as we travell along."

She is survived by her parents, Walter and Mary Epp, 38 Leeper Street. St. Catharines; brothers Odin and wife Audrey of St. Catharines and Dale at home; a sister, Marlene (Mrs. Ed Toews), St. Catharines; grandparents and many friends and realatives. The funeral was held from the Fairview Church on February 24 with Harvey Gossen and Henry Fransen ministering.
