CLAASS EPP, JR.

Claass Epp, son of Claass and Anna Epp, was born on May 14, 1902, near Jansen, Nebr. He received his education in the local schools and since 1925 had worked as a carpenter in that area.

Upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized on June 9, 1919, by Rev. Gerhard Penner and became a member of the First Mennonite church of Beatrice. He was also a charter member of the Beatrice Mennonite church and has been faithful and showed an active interest in church work to the day of his passing away.

On December 31, 1937, he was united in marriage to Anna Schowalter by Rev. M. M. Horsch. His mother preceded him in death by only seven months, less two days.

His passing was very sudden and it came as a great shock to all who had learned to know him. On Sept. 26, having gone to work as usual and in fine spirits, he suddenly passed away before 9:00 a. m.

He reached the age of 47 years, and leaves his wife Anna Epp, five sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Margaret Jantzen, Bernard Epp, Elizabeth Epp, Herman Epp, Abraham Epp, Mrs. Anna Ensz, Mrs. Marie Ensz, and Helen Epp, and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Because of his faith and his trust in the Lord, he with the Apostle Paul can say “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.”
