Anna Epp

Miss Anna Epp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Epp was born on Dec. 9th, 1911 in Oklahoma near Liberal, Kansas. She grew up to young girlhood in this community and attended school. In the year 1925 she came with her parents to Western Kansas and some time was spent in Lamar, Col. Since 1927 she has been with parents and brothers and sister lived in and around Hutchinson, Kansas. She has helped at home, and done considerable house work in the city. In October 1929 she made a visit to her sister Mrs. Dan Kleiwer at Corn, Oklahoma, where she has spent her time doing house work, till just about four weeks ago when she came home. During her stay in Oklahoma she found the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, and promised Him to follow Him wherever He would lead. When she came home she broke the news to father and mother and brothers and sisters that she had found Christ and was real happy. She said I have come home to get ready to go and study more and become a Missionary, because Jesus has done so much for me I want to do something for Him. She could have brought nothing greater home to the mother than this news, as it had been the mother's prayer all her life that one of her children would be a Missionary and here the prayer was answered. She was not feeling so very good when she came home, after a few days she went to the Grace Hospital for an operation on appendix and tumor. Dr. Earl Hemstid being her physician did all he could to help her gain better strength. Everything seemed to move along very favorable, till pneumonia set in. This gave her a very hard struggle, but she was very brave, never did she complain nor grumble. She was a very good patient. When asked if she had pains she would say not much. The reason for her patient suffering was that she knew to whom to look for help and strength, namely Jesus Christ, her Lord whom she loved. Her favorite Bible verse was john 1:12, "But as many as received Him to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." During her sickness and pain she never forgot to pray, and especially did she pray for the salvation of her rothers [sic] and sisters that some day she would be able to meet them in glory with Christ. Her mission career was very short, but God only knows the fruits of it. When asked if she was ready to die she replied, "I am safe in the arms of Jesus." On November 10 at midnight she looked at her watch and said, "It is twelve o'clock," and turned over to be with her Lord. She has reached an age of 18 years, 11 months, and 2 days. She leaves to mourn her early death, father, mother, give sisters and four brothers and many friends and relatives.
