FRANK P. ENSZ

Frank P. Ensz, son of Peter D. and Helena Reimer Ensz, was born at Marion, S. D. on Oct. 1, 1893. With his parents he emigrated to Canada on April 4, 1911. They went to Morse, Sask., taking up a homestead in the Neidpath area. After the passing of his parents in 1915 and 1917, Frank Ensz took over the family farm.

On May 27, 1912 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and became a member of the Herbert Mennonite Church of which he was a faithful member to the end.

He was married to Mrs. Anna Wiens on Oct. 25, 1946, and they made their home on the farm in the so-called Ensz District, where he was an active member in the church and community. Because of ill health he was forced to leave the farm and take up residence in the town of Herbert in 1956. Here too he was active in the church, serving as trustee on the church board for several years and as treasurer one year.

His health was not good the last years, necessitating every precaution because of a heart condition. On Jan. 21 he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the local hospital. He was unconscious, and never regained consciousness before he quietly passed away to be with the Lord at 10minutes before midnight on Sunday, Jan. 27.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Dietrich (1890), Peter (1947), and Henry (1902); five sisters, Agatha (1891), Maria (1949, Anna (1950), Martha (1958), and Katharina (1962).

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of Herbert; three sisters, Helena (Mrs. John Friesen) of Fort McLeod, Alberta, Nettie of Claresholm, Alberta, and Sarah (Mrs. Nick Thiessen) of Lethbridge, Alta.; one brother, David of Herbert; four step-children, Elmer of Coaldale, Harry of Penticton, B. C., Edward of London, England and Alice (Mrs. Elmer Spreeman) of Olds, Alberta; and 10 grandchildren. He reached the age of 69 years, three months and 26 days.

Funeral services were conducted from the Herbert Mennonite Church on Jan. 31 with Rev. John C. Siemens and Rev. John Nickel officiating. The latter spoke in German using as tet 2 Cor 5:1-7. The former spoke in English on Isaiah 51:11, 12. A male quartet sang. He was buried in the family plot on his farm at Neidpath.
