SARA ENNS

Sara Enns was born in 1885 in Alexanderthal, South Russia and passed away in Clearbrook, B.C., on July 22 in her 87th year. Her parents were among the members from the Furstenland Mennonite Church who were influenced by the spiritual awakening which was spreading over the Mennonite settlements in Russia, and they joined the Mennonite Brethren church. Her father became the leading minister of the MB Church in Olgafeld in 1902 and remained a leader until his emigration to Canada in 1926.

Sara's mother passed away when Sara was 15 years old, but her father re-married, and she became the oldest of 8 children. She accepted Christ as her Saviour and joined the MB church in 1911. In her youth she suffered from an illness which left her mentally handicapped for the remaining years of her life.

In Canada she lived with her parents first in Winkler, then in Drake, Sask., after her father died, then in Steinbach and Chilliwack, and spending the last eleven years of her life in the Menno Invalid Home. Funeral services were held in the Broadway M.B Church, Chilliwack, on July 28, with Pastor Henry Warkentin officiating. The expression of love shown by the church and the Woodlawn Funeral Home are deeply appreciated by the relatives.

Left to mourn are two brothers, one sister, a sister-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.
