JACOB ENNS

Jacob Enns passed away Mar. 22. He was born June 14, 1905 to Gerhard and Maria Enns in Ukraine. He married Agatha Braun Apr. 12, 1934. They immigrated to Germany during World War II. He was conscripted into the German army in 1944. He was a prisoner of war for 4 years in England. He then was reunited with Agatha in Germany. In 1953 they came to Canada, staying with relatives in Winnipeg for a few months. They then moved to Coaldale, Alta., where they stayed with Jacob and Sarah Siemens before settling in Lethbridge, Alta. There he worked at the Catelli plant, retiring in 1970. In 1971 they moved to Coaldale. In 1991 they sold their house and moved to Sunny South Lodge. In 1992 his nephew Albert Enns and wife Anna, missionaries in Paraguay, visited them; through this visit Jacob found spiritual renewal and joined Coaldale MB Church. The reading of God's Word in solitude and fellowship with others in word and song were God's call to a closer walk with Him. Agatha died in 1998. During the years that followed, he was lonely. His niece Sophie and her husband Heinz Grossklaus cared for his physical, emotional and spiritual needs. He is remembered for his kind and retiring nature. He is mourned by many nephews and nieces. The funeral was Mar. 27 in Cornerstone Funeral Home, Lethbridge, with Rudy Heidebrecht ministering.
