HEINRICH ABRAHAM ENNS

Heinrich Enns was born on January 6, 1883 in the Crimea, Russia, the son of Abraham and Anna (nee Duerksen) Enns. In 1901 he gave his life to the Lord, was baptized, and accepted into the Mennomte Brethren Church. He was married in 1908 and the next year they moved to a new community in Siberia.

The Lord gave them 11 children, six sons and five daughters. One son, one daughter and one son-in-law predeceased him. The family moved to Canada in 1926, settling for three years in Zeneta, Saskatchewan and then moving to Yarrow, B.C. Here they were actively involved in the work of the church, and served as deacons. In 1950 their son, Jake, took over the farm , opening the way for retirement. The Enns moved to the Menno Home in Clearbrook, B.C. in 1972. Mr. Enns' health slowly deteriorated and the Lord called him home on March 18. Rev. A. L. Klassen and Rev. Herman Lenzmann spoke at a funeral service, held March 20 in the Yarrow church.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife; five sons, Henry, John, Jake and George of B.C. and Peter of California; four daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Henry) Neufeld, (Mrs.) Helen Neufeld, and Sara (Mrs. Jake) Martens, all of Clearbrook, and Annie (Mrs. Jacob) Loewen; 36 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
