Cornelius C. Enns

Cornelius C. Enns of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Dec. 14. He was born Oct. 14, 1895 to Cornelius Nikolai and Anna Enns of Pleshanovo, Neu-Samara, Russia. In 1900 they became janitors of the MB church in Lugovsk. In 1903 he began work as a farm labourer. They had their own farm in Yugovka 1909-26. He accepted the Lord as a teen. He was drafted 1914, working as a dental assistant and in the bakery. He gave God the glory after recovering from cholera. He recommitted his life to Christ during a youth service led by Russian evangelist Kontrad Ieritchenko. He was baptized and joined the MB church. He married Susanna Martens June 14, 1921. They immigrated to Manitoba in 1926. They moved to McLeod, Alta., then Coaldale, Alta. They bought a poor farm near Readymade, Alta. Here fifth child Nick was born and died in a farm accident. They moved to B.C., farming in Chilliwack 1945-59. They belonged to East Chilliwack, then Broadway MB Church. He helped build the church buildings and contributed financially to the best of his ability. He loved to have family home to visit. In 1959 they moved to Clearbrook, where they sang in the Gernan choir of Clearbrook MB Church. In 1976 Susanna died. He stayed in his home caring for youngest son Nick and tending his garden. In 1987 he moved to Menno Home, where he played his harmonica and participated in Bible studies. He is mourned by children Cornie of Matsqui, B.C., Abe of Surrey, B.C., Alfred of Richmond, B.C., Anne Adrian of Mission, B.C., Peter of Clearbrook, Eric of Mission, Niek of Clearbrook and Harold of Williams Lake, ontributed financially to the best of his ability. He loved to have family home to visit. In 19[.9 they moved to Clearbrook, where they sang in the Gennan choir of Clearbrook MB Church. In H~76 Susanna died. He stayed in his home caring for youngest son Nick and tending his garden. In 1987 he moved to Menno Home, where he played his harmonica and participated in Bible studies. He is mourned by children Cornie of MatS(lui, B.C. , Abe of Surrey, B.C., Alfred of Richmond, B.C., Anne Adrian of Mission, B.C. , Peter of Clearbrook, Eric of Mission, Niek of Clearbrook and Harold of Williams Lake, B.C. The funeral was Dec. 19, with J.E. Klassen and Henry Claassen ministering.
