GEORGE P. EITZEN

Mountain Lake, Minn., Dec. 6. — For the second time within five days, the Bethel Mennonite Church was overfilled with mourners for a well-known and loved business man.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for George P. Eitzen, who died at work at the Farmers State Bank Tuesday morning, the day that funeral services were held for his neighbor, P. A. Janzen.

The Reverend Erland Waltner conducted the Eitzen rites and the men's choir, of which he was a member, sang several of his favorite selections. Mrs. J. H. Tschetter presided at the organ.

Mr. Eitzen was born on November 4, 1891, on a farm near Butterfield, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eitzen. In 1909 they moved to Mountain Lake and he attended school here.

On May 27, 1917, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite church. The same year on December 16 he was married to Agatha Warkentin.

He was called as a medical soldier in World War I and served with the U. S. Army in France. Upon his return he was employed at the Farmers State Bank, where he remained until the time of his death, 26 years later.

Surviving him are his wife and two sons, LeRoy and Allen; six brothers; and four sisters.

In appreciation of his services the students, teachers and employees of the public schools have given a $190.00 memorial fund to purchase a George P. Eitzen memorial for the school.

Memorial gifts in the amount of $238.65 have been given to the Home for the Aged and also another gift to missions has been given.

Pallbearers at the service were J. E. Hiebert, L. M. Jungas, J. Jay Epp, Sam Harder, J. H. Neufeld and Peter Eitzen, Jr. — Mountain lake Observer.
