Elsie Marie Eisenbraun of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 12:05 p.m. at Grace Village Healthcare at the age of 98.

Elsie was a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past 34 years where she was a homemaker, and a member of Pleasant View Bible Church of Warsaw, Indiana.

She was born in Tsaohsien Shantung, China on January 9, 1915 to Henry Cornelius Bartel and Nellie (Schmidt) Bartel…a child of missionary parents. She came to the U.S. and completed her college education at Wheaton College in Illinois. She returned to China after World War II, where she met and married Pastor Max Eisenbraun on August 31, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Moving to the U.S. in 1949, she served as a Pastor's wife at a number of churches in the mid-west. She taught elementary school for several years prior to retiring to Warsaw, Indiana in 1979.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five sons: James (wife Merna) Eisenbraun (Warsaw, Indiana); Paul (wife Maria) Eisenbraun (Austin, Texas); David (wife Debbie) Eisenbraun (St. Louis, Missouri); Tom (wife Kim) Eisenbraun (Colorado Springs, Colorado); John (wife Laurie) Eisenbraun (Union Lake, Michigan); two daughters: Hedy Eisenbraun Reese (Harrisonburg, Virginia); and Ruth (wife Tom) Kinney (Redstone, Colorado).

She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Johanna (husband Allan) Graves; Gabriel Eisenbraun; Ben (wife Anna) Eisenbraun; Elizabeth (husband Trey) Bryant; Emily, Jessica, and Sara Reese; Andy (wife Holly) Eisenbraun; Joe (wife Susannah) Eisenbraun; Max Eisenbraun; Robert (wife Anna) Eisenbraun; and her brother: Jonathan (wife Alice) Bartel (Salida, Colorado). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister.

No viewing is planned, a memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Village Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana and officiated by her son, Jim Eisenbraun. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
