HENRY N. EIDSE

Henry N. Eidse, son of Henry and Susana Eidse, was born at Rosenhof, Manitoba on Feb. 3, 1885 and passed away suddenly while taking his afternoon rest at one o'clock on Jan. 14, 1960, attaining the age of 74 years, 11 months and 11 days.

At the age of seven years, he with his parents moved to Merkle, Texas, staying about three years, and again returning to Manitoba where he then spent the rest of his life.

At the age of 18 years he was converted and found forgiveness of his sins through the Blood of Jesus Christ and through baptism was received into the fellowship of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, remaining true to God and the Church to the end.

On Nov. 17, 1907 he entered into marriage with Katharine Thiessen. This union was blessed with 12 children, of whom eight died in infancy.

On May 13, 1942 our mother passed away, leaving father with four children.

On Nov. 22, 1942 he again found a life's companion in Elizabeth Thiessen. We felt the blessings of the Lord in that we could share our joys and sorrows for a little over 17 years. His cheerful disposition and courageous outlook on life will be missed by many. He always had a great concern for the eternal welfare of the souls of men, and often admonished us to take life more earnestly. We are confident that he has gone to a better home not made with hands.

He leaves to mourn his sudden departure his sorrowing companion; four children, Lena and husband Joe Froese, Esther and husband Wm. T. Rempel, Aaron and wife Gladys, Minnie at home; ten grandchildren; three brothers, Abram of Fort St. John, B.C., Willie of Nanaimo, B. C., and Thomas of The Pas, Man.; three sisters, Anna, Mrs. Hans Gilman of Hamilton, Ont., Lena, Mrs. Peter Giesbrecht of Arden, Man., and Elizabeth, Mrs. J. J. Enright of Cranberry Portage, man.; four sisters-in-law and one uncle, William von Niessen. His parents, six brothers and two sisters, and four grandchildren predeceased him.

Funeral services were held in the Rosenort, Man. church. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
