ERNEST A. EDIGER

Ernest A. Ediger, son John Ediger and Henrietta (Pauls) Ediger, was born on December 22, 1899, in Harvey county, near Buhler, Kansas. He received his education in the community schools.

On September 19, 1920, he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Elder A. H. Martens and was taken in as a member of the Hebron church, whose faithful member he remained until his death.

He was joined in holy matrimony with Emma Martens on April 19, 1925, who preceded him in death in March, 1926. This union was blessed with one son, who also preceded him in death on September 10, 1933, through an accident at the age of seven years.

On June 5, 1927, he was joined in holy matrimony with Elizabeth Nickel, in which union he lived until his death, 18 years and nine months. He was engaged in farming, farming part of the home place.

During the month of October of last year he became ill. After the Christmas holiday season he consulted a physician and on January 22 he was taken to the Bethel Deaconess clinic for an examination. He entered the hospital the following week for an operation.

He recovered from this operation and it apparently was a success. However, other complications set in which made it necessary for him to undergo a major operation on March 8, from which he did not recover. Although the doctors and nurses did everything possible and many earnest prayers ascended to the Throne of Grace, it was the Heavenly Father's will that his earthly pilgrimage be ended at 11:00 o'clock P. M. on March 22, 1946. He reached the age of 46 years and 3 months.

His parents, two infant brothers, Henry and David, and his oldest sister, Ms. Elizabeth Baergen, have preceded him in death.

On his sick bed he quoted his favorite Scripture passage and his favorite songs, such as "Tell mother I'll be there," "My God and I", "My Jesus as thou wilt," "Wen Ich am Ufer des Jordans steh" and many others.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ediger; two brothers, John A. and George A. Ediger of Buhler; three sisters, Mrs. Agatha Reimer, Mrs. Katie Martens of Buhler, and Mrs. Anna Toews of Inman. also one mother-in-law, Mrs. Agnes Martens of Buhler, and a large circle of friends and other relatives.
