MARIA DYCK

Maria Dyck of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Feb. 19. She was born in 1892 to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob D. Rempel in Grigoryevka, Russia. In 1902 the family immigrated to Reinfeld, Man. In 1905 they moved to a homestead in Herbert, Sask. She attended Sunday school and had a deep desire to know God in a personal way. In 1908 she accepted the Lord during evangelistic services led by China missionary Frank Wiens. She was baptized in 1908 and joined Herbert MB Church. Several years later they moved to Main Centre, Sask. On Aug. 1, 1912 she married John J. Dyck of Main Centre, a union blessed with 7 children. They faced the hardships of pioneer life with courage and a firm faith in the Lord. She took great delight in God's Word and spent much time in prayer for family and community. In 1946 they moved to Oliver, B.C. and bought a small orchard. She was given to hospitality, often welcoming missionaries. John died in fall, 1971. In October, 1974 she moved to Tabor Home, Clearbrook. She desired to be released from her body and to be with the Lord. Predeceased by her husband, 3 children early in life, son John in 1968, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild, she is mourned by son Jacob of Clearbrook; daughter Mary Magnus of Oliver; 17 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and 2 brothers.
