MARIA DYCK

Maria Dyck of Herbert, Sask. passed away June 14. She was born Jan. 20, 1898 in Schoneberg, southern Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1913, settling near Hodgeville, Sask. She committed her life to the Lord in her youth and joined the MB church, remaining a faithful member all her life. She is remembered for her self-sacrifice for her family, devotion to the Lord and commitment to his will, conscientious hard work and cheerful disposition in the face of trials. She enjoyed gardening, handicraft and entertaining friends in her home. In 1917 she married Heinrich Mueller. They farmed near Kelstern, Sask. until retiring to Herbert in 1953. Heinrich died in 1956. She married Cornelius Dyck in 1964, and he died in 1970. Also predeceased by 1 son in infancy, 7 brothers and 3 sisters, she is survived by son Richard Miller of Regina; daughters Selma Miller and Anne Letkeman of Swift Current, Sask., Frieda Biech of Herbert, Emma Smith of Chaplin, Sask., Viola Jesperson of Edmonton and Verna Edlred of Richmond, B.C.; stepsons Jake Dyck of Brandon, Man. and Ben Dyck of Swift Current; stepdaughter Nettie Klassen of Herbert; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; 2 step great-great-grandchildren and 2 sisters. The funeral was June 18 in Herbert MB Church, with Gene White ministering.
