Jacob P. Dyck

One beloved husband and father Jacob P. Dyck was born on February 19, 1875, in Muensterberg, Russia.

In his early childhood he lost both of his parents and was reared in the Christian home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Koop. In the summer of 1892, he came to America with his uncle and aunt and they made their home in Harvey county, Kansas. In this vicinity he grew to young manhood. He learnt the blacksmith's trade which helped him along in later life. On May 22, 1893, he was baptized by Rev. Dietrich Gaeddert and became a member of the Hope Valley Church. He then went to Bessie, Okla. here in April of 1904 he married Kathryn Duerkson [sic Duerksen]. This union was blest with six children, two of which died in infancy. In 1919 his wife was taken from his side and he was left with four motherless children. During this time he was sick much of the time and often had to seek medical care. On May 27, 1923, he married again and found a helpmate in his new bereaved wife, Amanda Neufeld. To this union two children, Erna and Alvin, were born.

At May 18, at 4:30 o'clock, he left us to tarry here below, while he went to meet his Lord and Master whom he served. He has been a kind and loving father and his love we will not forget. We mourn, but not as those without hope, for he left us the assurance that he was ready to meet his Savior.

He has reached the age of 61 years 2 months and 29 days.

He leaves to mourn for us his too early departure, his wife and children, Henry, Bernard, Agnes, Erna and Alvin, and two son's-in-law and three grand-children. His daughter Marie of California preceded him in death this year on April 7. — The bereaved Wife and Children.
