JACOB J. (JACK) DYCK

Jacob J. Dyck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob P. Dyck, was born June 10th, 1935, at Laird, Sask. Here he spent his early and school years except Grade 12, which he took at Junior College, Rosthern.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at an early age, and later in 1950 during the David Hooge meetings in Waldheim he received assurance of his earlier experience. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith August 4th, 1957, at which time he also became a member of the Laird M.B. Church. He attended Bible School at Hepburn, where he dedicated his life to the Lord. After a year of working, he attended Teachers College to prepare for his life's work. He then taught in northern Alberta for a period of nearly two years.

During the Easter holidays of this year it was found that he had cancer. After a series of treatments in Edmonton which proved to be ineffective, he submitted to major surgery. This seemed successful and he hopefully looked to the future. After attending summer school for a short period, further symptoms of cancer were noticed. Again he was hospitalized, this time in Saskatoon where a new drug was tried without success. During this time trial, he committed his life wholly into the Lord's hand and was submissive to His will. The Lord answered his prayer to go home, when He took him to Himself on September 14, 1964. He attained the age of 29 years, 3 months and 4 days.

With his early death he leaves to mourn his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob P. Dyck, Clearbrook, B.C.; his fiancee Irma Loewen, Saskatoon; nine sisters Hertha, (Mrs. D. Hinz); Helen, Mrs. R. Dyck); Elsie (Mrs. H. Martin); Frieda (Mrs. D. Martens); Linda; Tina (Mrs. J. Hiebert); Erica (Mrs. G. Wiebe); Doris (Mrs. R. Siemens); Selma,(Mrs E. Stobbe); many nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
