DAVID R. DYCK

David R. Dyck was born on April 7, 1880 at Marion, Kansas. He was the son of David and Lena Dyck. Rev. David Dyck, father of the deceased was known and loved by many in the MB churches of Canada. In 1896 the family emigrated to Winkler Manitoba making the long journey by wagon train.

Upon confession of faith, he was baptized and received into the membership of the Mennonite Brethren Church. On November 24, 1901 he was united in marriage to Helena Hiebert of Altona, Manitoba. Ten children were born of this union, two died in infancy. Later they adopted two girls.

In 1905 David and Helena Dyck came to Saskatchewan and settled on a homestead fourteen miles north-east of Borden. They experienced all the hardships and tribulations of pioneer life, but by hard work and perseverence they managed to make a home for themselves and their family. Mr. Dyck was active in the church and community affairs, serving in many ways and always willing to help others. They retired from active farming in 1943 and lived for some time at Hepburn, Sask. In 1951 they moved to Saskatoon where they made their home at 520 - 32nd Street West since that time.

On January 15 of this year Mr. Dyck suffered a heart attack and was admitted to the City Hospital. In the early morning of February 5 he went to his eternal rest, to be forever with the Lord. The last weeks in the hospital Mr. Dyck often expressed his desire to go to be with the Lord whom he loved.

His age at the time of his passing was 84 years, nine months and 29 days. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Helena, six sons, four daughters, 28 grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters survive.
