JOSEPH J. DUFF

Joseph Johnson Duff, son of Joseph and Saffrona Johnson, was born in Whiteside county, Ill. Sept. 6, 1861; passed away March 29, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clyde Ellis, at the age of 93 years, six months and 23 days.

He was married to Elsie May Hathaway in Palmyra, Mo. on July 17, 1886. Born to this union were three sons and one daughter.

Preceding him in death were two sons, his wife, who passed away May 17, 1944, also three sisters and one brother.

He united with the Pea Ridge Mennonite church in 1904, being one of the charter members of this congregation.

He leaves one daughter, one son, Virgil Duff, of Philadelphia, Mo. and the Pea Ridge congregation; one brother, Jack Duff; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Pea Ridge church, April 1, by J. R. Shank and Ira Buckwalter. Burial was made in the Coleman cemetery near Philadelphia, Mo.
