PETER H. DUECK

Peter H. Dueck of Boissevain, Man. passed away May 1. He was born Nov. 27, 1908 to Heinrich and Maria Dueck of Blumenheim, Molotschna, Russia. When he was 2, the family moved to a large farm at Kistendej. At the urging of his brother Bernhard, he accepted Christ and was baptized into Arkadak MB Church. In 1926 the family immigrated to Canada. After 3 years in Manitou, Man. and 1 year in Desford, Man., they moved to Minto, Man. He spent several years working on farms. He married Annie Goertz Durksen June 19, 1937 and moved to a farm at Minto. In the 1940s they moved to Boissevain and joined Boissevain MB Church. He loved the fellowship, found great joy in supporting the church regularly and had a heart for foreign missions. He is remembered as a loving, faithful husband, father and grandfather concerned with the educational and spiritual welfare of his family. He was a gentle, frugal man who took pride in his farm and his family's accomplishments. He enjoyed simple pleasures: his family, church, community and, in later years, his garden. Predeceased by his wife Mar. 25, 1989, he is mourned by sons Henry of Boissevain and David of Winnipeg; daughters Kathleen Martens of Portage la Prairie, Man. and Mary Anne Harms of Swift Current, Sask.; 10 grandchildren; sisters and brothers. The funeral was May 4 in Boissevain MB Church, with Wally Kroeker and Abe Froese ministering.
