JOHN PETER DUECK

John Peter Dueck was born in Beatrice, Neb. on November 4, 1897. When he was only three months old his parents brought their family to Paso Robles, Calif. Here he lived most of his life. The Lord called him home while he was at work painting in the Willow Creek Mennonite church on April 12, 1960. He was 62.

He was baptized by Rev. F. F. Jantzen on May 31, 1914, and was received into the membership of the Willow creek Mennonite church, in which he was a faithful member until his death.

Dec. 4, 1919, he was united in marriage to Helen Dyck, with whom he shared the joys and sorrows of their home for over 40 years.

The immediate cause of his sudden death was a heart ailment. He suffered his first heart attack 12 years ago and the second seven years ago. In June 1959, he had a stroke. And now, while working among his fellow church members, he passed away suddenly.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Helen Dueck, three sons, Carl A. of Yucaipa, Calif., Alfred J. of Paso Robles, and Donald E. of Richmond, and seven grandchildren.

On the last day of his life here, he was especially concerned about helping to get the church ready for the Easter season and for the coming Sunday school and Christian Endeavor convention. He seemed to have special joy in this last service. We will miss him.
