EIGHT-YEAR OLD GIRL DIES AFTER UNDERGOING RARE HEART SURGERY
Steinbach, Man. — Eight-year-old Joanne Dueck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Dueck of Kleefeld, died at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg on April 5, the day after undergoing a delicate heart operation. Her mother was at her bedside.
The little girl had been in declining health due to a large hole between two of the heart chambers and a defect in one of the aortic valves.
