(MRS.) HELEN DUECK

Helen Dueck was born March 25, 1910 in Steinfeldt, South Russia to Bernard and Margaret Falk, the ninth child in a family of 12. She received her formal education in Steinfeldt and also accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age.

After fleeing to Moscow in 1925 the family emigrated to Canada and settled in Rosthern, Sask. She joined the Rosthern Mennonite Church.

On April 23, 1933 she married Jakob A . Dueck of Rosthern, with whom she shared almost 43 wonderful years. Three children, Walter, Alice and Leona brought much joy into their home. In 1947 they moved to B.C. where they eventually settled on a farm near Arnold. They joined the Arnold Mennonite Brethren Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship and liked to help in many ways, especially in t he kitchen. In 1964 they retired to Clearbrook, joining the South Abbotsford MB Church.

She will be remembered as a friend, wife and mother because of her untiring devotion for those near to her. During the last 20 years she endured many physical hardships and was an inspiration to all who knew her. The Lord took her to himself on March 23, two days before her 65th birthday.

She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Herman and Henry, a sister Mary and a grandson, Darryll Wiens. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Jacob A. Dueck; her children, Walter Dueck, Alice Wiens and Leona Anastasiades; their wives, husbands and nine grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers.
