Aged Minister Dies In Mexico, Leaving 431 Descendants

Kleefeld, Manitoba. — Word was received here of the recent passing of Rev. Bernhard R. Dueck, 90, long-time minister in the Evangelical Mennonite church (Kleingemeinde), in Quellen Colony, Mexico.

Formerly of Kleefeld, Rev. Dueck was the last of the descendants of Jacob and Maria L. Dueck of this place. He himself leaves a total of 431 descendants, including 29 through adoption and 21 through his second marriage.

Rev. Dueck entered the ministry here in 1914 and was active for more than 51 years. Following the death of his first wife in 1948 he moved to Mexico with 10 of his 15 children. In 1949 he married Helena J. Thiessen. She survives with the 15 children, 118 grandchildren, 198 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Rosenort E. M. Church on Oct. 2.
