ANNE DUECK

Anne Dueck died Oct. 30 in Winnipeg. She was born Nov. 29, 1912 in Kistendej, Arkadak, Russia to Heinrich and Maria Dueck. Her mother died 9 years later and Anne assumed responsibilities for the family. Her father remarried shortly thereafter. In 1926 the family immigrated to Manitou, Man. She began her faith journey in 1927 and was baptized in 1928, joining Manitou MB Church. She attended Winkler (Man.) Bible School and taught daily vacation Bible school. She attended MB Bible College in 1947, graduating in 1951. She worked with Canada Inland Mission in Winnipegosis, and later in B.C. with WesCoast Children's Mission. In 1957 she completed high school and teacher training in Vancouver and taught until 1970. She worked for Children's Aid Society in Winnipeg for 10 years. She also volunteered for 32 years with Child Evangelism Fellowship, particularly in the Mailbox Club. In her retirement she tutored foreign students in English. She began a biblical studies bursary for her great nieces and nephews, 38 of whom have benefited. She was very frugal. She enjoyed an active social life in Donwood South. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister, she is survived by sisters Mary Martens, Katie Peters; brother John Dyck; 40 nieces and nephews. The funeral was Nov. 4 in Elmwood MB Church, Winnipeg.
