JOHN DOOLIN

John Doolin, son of Thomas and Mary Higgins Doolin, was born in Johnson County, Iowa on March 28, 1880 and passed from this life at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, on March 14, 1962 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 16 days. Death was due to the complications that followed a stroke on the morning of March 2.

On Jan 15, 1903 he was married to Esther Yoder who survives him. Other survivors include seven daughters and two sons: Bertha, Mrs. Henry Yoder, Parnell; Mary, Mrs. Clayton Horst, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Alta, Mrs. Willard Marner, Sleemans, Ontario; Laura, Mrs. Wallace Eash, Wellman; Edward Warsaw, Ind.; Erma Mrs. Enos Miller, Wellman; Ruth, Mrs. Rollie Yoder, Parnell; Nora, Mrs. Maynard Kinsinger, and Nyle of Parnell. There are 38 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

John was one of a family of 13 children, all of whom preceded him in death. Two children and four grandchildren also preceded him in death, John and Esther were married 59 years and two months.

John was received into the fellowship of the West Union Mennonite Church by water baptism upon confession of faith in the summer of 1903.

Funeral services were held March 17 at the West Union Mennonite Church, Parnell, Iowa, in charge of Herman Ropp and Noah Landis. Burial was made in the West Union Cemetery.
