WENDELL LEE DOERKSEN

Services for Wendell Lee Doerksen, day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doerksen, Madrid, Nebr. were held in the First Mennonite church at Madrid on June 11 at 9 a.m. with Rev. Paul Dahlenburg in charge.

Orville Schellenberg and the uncles of the deceased, Ivan, Pete, and Herman Regier, sang "Jewels” and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" with Mrs. Herman Regier at the piano. The service was delayed until the mother at the hospital in Grant could see her little one. Rev. Dahlenburg held a brief service there. He said at the graveside, "This child had 22 hours. What are you doing with that amount of time in your life?”

Wendell Lee, born June 9, 1954, is survived by his parents and a brother, Jerry Lynn, and the grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. David Doerksen of Reedley, Calif, and Mrs. [sic] and Mrs. P. A. Regier, Madrid. The many prayers, cards, flowers and other remembrances proved to be a source of much strength and comfort to the bereaved parents.

The Bible says: "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
