PETER JULIUS DIRKSEN, 78

Peter Julius Dirksen, 78, died at his home in Vineland, Ont., on Dec. 26. He had been ill since April and had been in the sanatorium for many treatments. Funeral service was held in the Vineland M. B. Church with Rev. J. Schmidt and Rev. H. P. Wiebe officiating. He is survived by 2 sons, 2 daughters, one adopted son, one adopted daughter.

As a youth Mr. Dirksen served in the Forstei where he was also converted, during the years 1907 -1909. He and the former Katharine Duester were married in 1910. (In 1960 they celebrated their Golden Wedding in Vineland). They came to Canada in 1926 - first to Dalmeny, Sask., for a short time, then spent eleven years in Namaka Alberta. In 1938 they came to Vineland where they have lived ever since. Mr. Dirksen was a farmer all his life, but also served much in church work. He was 'Leiter' of Vineland M.B. Church for a number of years. He was always very highly regarded and well liked by everyone.
