DENNIS DREW DIRKSEN

Dennis Drew Dirksen, son of Roland and Rosella Dirksen, was born October 31, 1950. He enjoyed a normal and happy babyhood, even though it was necessary for him to submit to major surgery at three and on-half months. After that he again enjoyed good health.

His quiet, loving disposition won him many friends.

This child was consecrated to the service of the Lord on Children's Day, June 10, 1951. His parents acknowledged their responsibility to teach him the meaning and the purpose of the Christian life. This trust they faithfully carried out as parents care for and show the love of God for a little child.

On December 25, 1951, he entered the Bethel Deaconess hospital because of a kidney ailment. He responded to treatment. Then after ten days at the University of Kansas Medical Center he was again able to enjoy life at home with his family.

Life seemed exceptionally pleasant the following three weeks at home as it seemed he was making a satisfactory recovery. However, on February 18 his condition suddenly became worse, and he was again taken to the Bethel hospital. On the morning of February 21, at 5:25, he quietly slipped away into the beyond.

A brother, Rollyn Gale, and a sister, Merryl Diane, preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn him his parents and his brother, Darrel Dwight, his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Dirksen of Newton, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Goessel Mennonite church Sunday afternoon, February 25. Rev. Orlin F. Frey was in charge assisted by Rev. P. P. Buller and Rev. Edwin Stucky. Burial was in the Goessel Church cemetery.
