Lena Dirks

Lena Dirks, nee Dick, was born January 27, 1894 near Buhler, Reno Co., Kansas. When she was 16 years of age she was converted and gave her heart to her Savior, and through faith and prayer she found peace and rest in the loving arms of her Redeemer. on October 12, 1919 she was baptized by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff and received as a member into the Hoffnungsau Church, whose true and faithful member she remained unto her death. In her last days she suffered much, but as often as she was asked whether she was ready to meet her Savior, she always answered with a clear "yes". She, through the grace of God has conquered and is now reaping her reward in the presence of Him who has called her to be with Him.

On the 26th of October, 1919 she was united in marriage to her now bereaved husband, Peter Dirks. With him she was permitted to share the joys and hardships of married life 7 years, 5 months and 11 days. This union was blessed with 2 daughters, she had also become second mother to a daughter of previous marriage which child she loved and cared for as her own.

She leaves to mourn her for us too early departure, her husband, 3 daughters, parents from both sides, her grandmother, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, 10 brother-in-law, 9 sisters-in-law and a great number of relatives and friends.

On the 28thof April a daughter was born and everything seemed well, but soon other complications set in which caused her death. She departed to be with her Savior on Saturday, may 7 at 1:35 in the morning. She reached the age of 33 years, 3 months and 10 days.
