Two Accidents Within Twenty-Four Hours Fatal To Two Relatives

TRAGEDY STRIKES IN FAR DISTANT PLACES FOR MEMBERS OF OHIO FAMILY

Pandora, Ohio. — Two accidents in distant places on successive days recently claimed the lives of Edwin Diller, 67, and his nephew, Calvin Bert Yoder, 25, both of this community, and between whom a special kinship existed because the younger man had been raised in his uncle's home from the age of four.

Mr. Diller died at a West Palm Beach, Fla., hospital on Saturday, April 5, after being struck by a car while viewing the wreckage of a collision in Lake Worth. He and his wife were spending the winter months in Florida with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Locher. A son, Ralph Diller, and family of Kokomo, Ind., were also in Florida at the time of the accident.

Lt. (j g.) Yoder, a Navy pilot, was killed in a mid-air crash over the Atlantic on Friday, April 4, according to information received by relatives here. He was on a routine flight from his ship, the aircraft carrier Leyte, and his body was lost at sea.

He was the son of Willis and Malinda (Diller) Yoder, formerly of Goshen, Ind. His mother died when he was four years old, at which time he came to live with his uncle here. He is survived by his father and stepmother; a sister, Frieda Yoder, Cleveland; two brothers, David Yoder, Landisville, Pa., James Yoder, Garden City, Mich.; and a step-sister, Carol E. Yoder of Goshen.

Funeral services for Mr. Diller and memorial service for his nephew were held at the Grace Mennonite church here, With Rev. E. J. Bohn officiating.
