— Herbert A. Dick, for many years a resident in Newton, died unexpectedly last Saturday, May 14. o Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the first Mennonite church, conducted by Rev. J. E. Entz. The departed is survived by his wife and two children.

Herbert A. Dick

Herbert A. Dick was born September 21, 1898 in Henderson, Neb., the son of Cornelius C. and Marcia Dick. he attended the public schools there until the family moved to Newton in 1914. He attended the city schools and Bethel academy, and then joined his late father in the Dick Motor Co.

He was baptized in the First Mennonite church on May 18, 1918, where he held his membership until death.

On August 29, 1923, he was united in marriage to Flor Board. To this union two children, Jack Herbert, age 12, and Donna Lee, age 10, were born. Prior to his illness, he was employed by the Warren Motor Co. as salesman.

Altho in poor health for sometime, he continued his work in a courageous manner until April 5, when he was admitted to the hospital. He continued to be cheerful and optimistic in spite of his weakened condition. On May 14 he passe3d on, unexpectedly.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie, and his father, in 1934.

He is survived by his widow, Flora, and two children; his mother, Mrs. G. C. Dick; one brother, William Dick; and four sisters, Mrs. P. G. Braun, of Plainville, Mrs. Willard Peters of Burrton, and Mrs. Waldo Schmidt of Udall.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 17, at the First Mennonite church in charge of Rev. J. E. Entz. A quartet composed of Miss Martha Schroeder, Miss Dorothy Claassen, H. J. Andres and Paul Entz sang a group of numbers, accompanied by Anna Suderman at the piano.

Pall bearers were H. Toevs, George Charlsen, Lloyd McMullen, Floyd Hunter, L. P. Roux and Ralph Mansfield.

Burial was in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Duff and Son.
