• Among those attending funeral services for Mrs. V. D. Detweiler last Sunday at the Pleasant View church, Hydro, Okla. were her children, Mr. and Mrs. John Detweiler of Hesston and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Detweiler of Route 5, Newton, and also Mr. and Mrs. Richard Toews of Hesston.

Weatherford, Okla. — Mrs. V. D. Detweiler, 86 long-time resident of this western Oklahoma community, died Nov. 15 at the Thomas Memorial Hospital. She had been a hospital patient since suffering a broken hip on Aug. 15 of this year.
She was married to Valentine Detweiler on Dec. 8, 1895. He preceded her in death, as did a daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
She was a faithful member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church near here, where funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon.
Surviving are six daughters, three sons, a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three brothers and one sister.

MRS. CATHERINE DETWEILER
Catherine Detweiler, daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Gascho) Slagell, was born near Flanagan, Ill. on March 9, 1877, and died in the Thomas, Okla. Memorial Hospital on Nov. 15, 1963 at the age of 86 years, eight months, and six days.
As a young girl she moved with her parents to Thurman, Colo. Seven years later the family moved to Kansas, near Emporia, Here she met Valentine Detwieler ['sic Detweiler] and they were married on Dec. 8, 1895. They lived near Emporia for several years, and then moved to Milford, Neb. In 1913 they moved to the Thomas, Okla. community.
Her companion and one daughter, Pearl, preceded her in death as did five sisters and two brothers. Surviving are six daughters, Mary, Mrs. Arthur Waters of Pueblo, Colo., Barbara, Mrs. Peter Schantz of Thomas, Lydia, Mrs. W. C. Schantz of Hydro, Okla., Katie, Mrs. Roy King of Kansas City, Kan., Ella, Mrs. Glen Miller of Weatherford, Okla., Emma, Mrs. Paul Johns; three sons, Joe of Newton, Kan., John of Hesston, Kan., and Ben of Leonard, Mo.; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara, Mrs. S. E. Stutzman of Weatherford; three brothers, Joseph of Thomas, Ben of Weatherford, and John of Hydro.
Funeral services were held Nov. 17 in the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church where she was a faithful member. Bishop Alva Swartzendruber and Bishop J. G. Hartzler of Windom, Kan. officiated. Burial was made in th nearby cemetery.
