Marvin Stanley Dester

Marvin Stanley Dester, 84, of Deer Creek, Okla., died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at his home.

He was born April 6, 1920, to Emil and Edna (Wicke) Dester near Deer Creek. They preceded him in death. He married Olga Voth Oct. 26, 1946. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 2001.

He lived in Grant County his entire life. He attended Deer Creek schools and Bethel College in North Newton. During the early 1940s, he served in the Civilian Public Service. He was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Deer Creek Mennonite Church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Carol Reese and husband Rex of Nardin, Okla.; three sons, Robert of Newton, Leland and wife Debra of Tulsa, Okla., and Larry of Ponca City, Okla.; three brothers, Eugene Dester and wife Daisy of Abilene, Delbert Dester and wife Lois of Washington, Ill., and James Dester and wife Nancy of Sycamore, Ill.; a sister, Gladys Regier and husband Raymond of North Newton; six grandchildren, Nathan Reese of St. Louis, Samuel Dester and Jacob Dester, both of Tulsa, Bethany Craig and husband Stephen of Norman, Okla., and Leah Dester and Erin Dester, both of Ponca City; and other relatives and friends.

He also was preceded in death by: two brothers, Wilbur and Ralph; and a sister, Margaret.

Funeral service will be 2 p. m. Thursday at Deer Creek Mennonite Church in Deer Creek with the Rev. Willard Stucky officiating.

Burial will be in Bayard Cemetery in Deer Creek.
