Hundred-One Year Old Kitchener Resident Called Away in Death

MRS. SOPHIA DEDELS WAS OLDEST MEMBER OF M. B. C. CHURCH IN U. S. OR CANADA

Kitchener, Ontario. — Oldest member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church in both the United States or Canada, Mrs. Sophia Dedels of Kitchener, passed away on January 24, only two weeks after celebrating her 101st birthday. She was a member of Bethany M. B. C. church. The funeral was held on Sunday, January 27, with Rev. P. G. Lehman in charge. Interment was made in Breslau cemetery.

Born in Washington in 1845, Mrs. Dedels was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Huber. Her early life was spent in the Plattsville neighborhood where she attended school. Second oldest of 13 children, she outlived all other members of her family, and also two sons and two daughters of her own. Surviving are two sons, Edwin, of Kitchener with whom she had been residing, and Allan of Didsbury, Alberta, also 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
