HENRY P. DECKERT

Henry P. Deckert was born October 14, 1886 to Peter and Susanna Unruh Deckert at Marion, S. D. At the age of 17 he was baptized upon confession of faith and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church of Marion.

On Nov. 18, 1909 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Albrecht at Marion. To this union were born five sons and one daughter.

In 1915 they moved to Richey, Mont. where they purchased land, and this was their home until his death.

Soon after coming to Montana his church membership was transferred to the Bethlehem Mennonite Church, Bloomfield, Mont., of which he remained a faithful member. He was active in church work, having served as Sunday school superintended and also as Sunday school teacher for many years. In 1949 his daughter-in-law Adina passed away after which the home was opened to Lloyd and their three children. After Lloyd passed away in 1957 the children continued to make this their home.

In 1959 they observed their golden wedding anniversary.

Father had not been well for some years. A number of illnesses finally culminated in an acute heart condition. He was able to attend worship service on Easter Sunday. On Monday morning he suddenly became very ill. He was taken to the hospital in Circle, Mont. that afternoon and passed away about 5:30 Tuesday morning, April 16, 1963. He reached the age of 76 years, six months and two days.

His passing is mourned by his wife Lizzie, two sons, Waldo and wife Olga of Circle, Mont. Algy and wife Delilah of Hillsboro, Kan.; one daughter LeDora and husband, Archie Kliewer of Atlanta, Mich.; the three grandchildren who made their home with him, Roane and wife Ardelle of Dubuque, Iowa, James of the home, and Arlys of St. Paul, Minn.; also eight other grand-children and one great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were three sons, Alfred (in infancy), Lloyd and Eldon, and one daughter-in-law.

Also surviving are two brother, Fred of Richey, Mont. and Jake of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bethlehem Mennonite Church, Bloomfield, on April 21, 1963, Rev. E. A. Albrecht officiated.
