Newton And Vicinity

. . .

— A tragic accident occurred last Saturday at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen N. Decker, route 1, Burns, when their 20 months old daughter, Myrna Sue Decker, fell into the stock tank and drowned. The accident took place while Mr. and Mrs. Decker were in Newton on a shopping trip, leaving their four children in the care of their hired girl. the hired girl suddenly missed Myrna Sue and began a search for her and found the body in the tank. She had apparently tried to get a drink from the water spout at the tank when she slipped and fell in. She was rushed to Burns where a respirator was used, but to no avail. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and at the Ebenezer church in Burns with Rev. H. L. Shook officiating. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Decker, reside in Newton.
