— Funeral services for Arlee D. Decker, 23, were held April 20 at the First Mennonite Church of Halstead, Rev. Roland Goering officiating. A resident of Halstead most of his life, Mr. Decker had lived and worked in Wichita the past six years. He died at a Wichita hospital April 17. Surviving are his widow and a step-son, Cletis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus H. Decker of Halstead; three sisters and two brothers.

Arlee Dean Decker, son of Gustave H. and Catherine Schultz Decker, was born on Jan. 3, 1924, at Custer City, Okla. When he was about 18 months of age, he came with his parents to Halstead, Kansas, where he spent most of his life. He received his education in the Halstead schools and graduated from Halstead High School in 1942. For the past six years, however, he had made his home in Wichita, Kansas, where he was employed by the Colorado Fuel and iron Warehouse Company.
On May 24, 1942, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith by Rev. David C. Wedel, and was received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead. In this church he maintained his membership until the time of his death.
On May 24, 1955, he was married to Mrs. Melreida Opal Piethmann, with whom he shared life for almost one year.
He passed away at 3:15 a. m. Tuesday, April 17, 1956, having reached the age of 32 years, three months and 14 days.
He is survived by his wife; his parents; one step-son, Cletis Raymond; three sisters, Ella (Mrs. Ben Nightengale) and husband of Halstead, Esther (Mrs. Jess Barfield and husband of Emporia, and Ruby (Mrs. William Goad) and husband of Newton; and two brothers, Clifford (and wife Helen) of Newton and Sherman (and wife Kaethe) of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving him are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held in the First Mennonite Church of Halstead on Friday afternoon, April 20, at 2:30 o'clock with his pastor, Rev. Roland R. Goering officiating. Mrs. Dan Krehbiel, Mrs. Harvey Vogt, Dan Krehbiel and Harvey Vogt sang "Near To The Heart of God" and "Take Thou My Hand, O Father." Mrs. Milton Ewy was the accompanist.
He was laid to rest in the family lot in the Halstead Cemetery with the directors of the Kaufman Funeral Home in charge.
