WIDELY KNOWN FRIEND OF CHILDREN DIED IN INDIANA

Nappanee, Ind. — A. N. Culp, 85, oldest member of the North Main Street Mennonite church here who was known as the “candy man” because of his gifts to children, passed away July 30.

A few years ago the postman delivered a birthday greeting to him address only, “To Candy Man.” Mr. Culp said, “Make a friend of children, and you will always have a friend.”

Bishop David A. Yoder of Elkhart and Mr. Culp’s pastor, Homer North, conducted the funeral services at the local church on Aug. 2. He was laid to rest in the South Union cemetery.
