MRS. GENEVIEVE COTTRELL

Genevieve Lowenberg Cottrell was born August 15,1922, three and one-half miles southwest of Donnellson, Iowa. She attended the public school in Donnellson, and graduated from high school there. She was baptized in the Zion Mennonite church, Sept. 26, 1937, by Rev. Adolph Friesen.

She graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago on June 20, 1944, and was employed as artist at Haskinson and Rohloff Art Studios in Chicago.

Her marriage to David Cottrell took place Dec.27, 1947, in the chapel of the Fourth Presbyterian church in Chicago. The couple lived for one year in Mayville, N. D., where Mr. Cottrell was an instructor of music in the State Teachers College. Then a year was spent in Iowa City where he received his Master's degree.

Since returning to Chicago Genevieve had been employed as a commercial artist by the Chicago Daily Tribune.

Last spring Mr. and Mrs. Cottrell moved to their new home in Barrington Wood, Ill. It was in Barrington where she was accidently killed on the morning of Dec.30 when she stepped in front of a train. She was a faithful and loving wife and a kind and sympathetic friend.

She leaves to mourn her early passing her husband, David Cottrell of Barrington Wood, Ill.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John V. Lowenberg; one sister, Mrs. Donald Newman of Charlottte, N. C.; two brothers, John S. Lowenberg of Jefferson, Iowa, and Richard Lowenberg of Des Moines; nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in Zion Mennonite church Monday, Jan. 2, at 2 p. m., Rev. Harold Thiessen officiating.
