Former MBM Executive Committee Member Dies

Elkhart, Ind. — John Rittenhouse Clemens, a former executive committee member of Mennonite Board of Missions, died Nov. 3 in Pennsylvania. He was 76.

Clemens served as vice-president of MBM from 1961 to 1967. He also served as secretary of Franconia Mennonite Board of Missions for 16 years and was active in the Mennonite Historians of Eastern Pennsylvania.

He and his wife, Mildred, served two years in Ethiopia with Mennonite Central Committee; he served as business administrator at Nazareth Hospital and Clinic.

A private funeral service was held Nov. 7 at Plain Mennonite Church, Lansdale, Pa., where he was a lifelong member. Survivors include his wife, three sons and a daughter.
