Well-Known Minister Dies at Lansdale, Pa.

Lansdale, Pa. — Funeral services were held at the Plains Mennonite Church, Lansdale, on May 18 for Jacob C. Clemens, 91, well-known Franconia Conference minister who served the Plains congregation for many years. His death occurred May 13.

A native of Montgomery County, Pastor Clemens was a school teacher and later a bank teller in his early years. In addition to his work as pastor, and evangelist, he farmed for many years, retiring from the farm in 1941.

He held places of leadership in both the Franconia Conference and the Mennonite (Old) General Conference. In the larger body, he served as a member of the Mennonite Board of Education, the Mennonite Historical Society, and the Mennonite Publication Board.
