HERMAN J. CLAASSEN

Herman J. Claassen was born in Germany June 8, 1884. His parents with their children came to the United States in 1888. Here their first home was at Beatrice, Neb. In 1896 they moved to Paso Robles, Calif.

Herman was baptized upon his confession of faith by Elder Jacob Hege on Oct. 27, 1901. From that time until his departure to be with the Lord he was a faithful member of the Willow Creek Mennonite Church.

For fifty years he lived on his ranch at Willow Creek. He reached the age of 70 years, seven months, and 11 days. The Lord took him to his heavenly home Sunday morning, Jan. 19, 1964.

He was united in marriage with Ina Feighnor in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Los Angeles on May 7, 1821 [sic 1921]. he is survived by his widow; a son, Warren Claassen, his wife and two grandsons; six brothers, Henry, Gustav and Bernard Claassen of Paso Robles, and John, William and Gerhard Claassen of Willow Creek; two sisters, Mrs. Eliese Fast of Paso Robles and Mrs. John Janzen of Elbing, Kan., and many nieces and nephews.

The friendly nature of Herman Claassen won for him many friends who will not forget him.
