ERNEST G. CLAASSEN

Ernest G. Claassen, 101, of Whitewater, Kan., died Sept. 27, 1996, at Whitewater.

He was born Sept. 17, 1895, in Butler County, the son of John H. and Elizabeth (Thierstein) Claassen. He married Justine Wiebe on March 2, 1922. She died Nov. 2, 1990.

Ernest was a farmer, living all his life in the Plum Grove Community. He was a member of Emmaus Mennonite Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Edith Graber of St. Louis, Marian Franz of Washington and Joan Jones of Fresno, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three sisters, Esther M. Wiebe and Elsie Claassen, both of Whitewater, and Edna Regier of Newton. Services were held at Emmaus Mennonite Church. Burial was in the Emmaus Cemetery.
