BISHOP OF AMISH CHURCH FOR 30 YEARS CALLED AWAY IN DEATH
New Wilmington, Penna. — Friends and relatives from far and near gathered Dec. 26 to pay last respects to Yost J. Byler, 72, well known bishop of the Amish church here. his death on Friday, Dec. 24, was due to cancer.
Bro. Yost’s service as a bishop extended over a period of 30 years. He was ordained as a minister in 1922 and to the office of bishop in 1924. His wife and a large family of descendants survive.
