Amish Bishop Died Suddenly

Belleville, Pa. — Funeral services were held at the Joe I. Peachey home near here March 17 for Crist J. Byler, well known carpenter and bishop of the Byler Amish church district for over 20 years who died suddenly of a heart attack on Sunday, March 15.

Bro. Byler had pushed his carriage out of the shed in preparation for attending Sunday services at the Emmanuel Peachey home and was walking toward the barn to get his horse when he dropped dead of a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Franie [sic Franey] Hostetler Byler, one brother, Felda Byler, and one sister, Mrs. Arie Yoder and a number of nieces and nephews of Lawrence county. Four children preceded him in death.
